I came up on him, and he started a dialog. It seemed that it had been nearly 5 years since he had seen his sister, but they talked occasionally. The ask was that I take a photo for her, to show what his life was. I said that's really not what I was doing and turned away. I was a really bad liar, because that's exactly what my photography is about. My turn was not to walk away though, but to construct a situation that required an action--that's a sure trigger response to street subjects whom you are engaged with! He was quite intoxicated, and I was not a lot behind him... 🍻

As he said "Not going to do it?" he threw his hands up in resignation. The HCB moment happened, and I turned and snapped. A resized photo was sent to his sister's smartphone... (y)
