Welcome to Cafe Thursday,
the weeklong thread open to all camera types and brands. All are welcome here.

This week's subject can be about anything, but please tell us a little about the shot and gear used.

My shot was taken with a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. A handy phone with 5 cameras.
I submit this photo for your approval titled "The Treasure Chest". 💀

I made these a few weeks ago while traveling. My Fuji X100s, my go-to travel camera, needs a trip to hospital, because (I think) there's moisture in its guts. I have been traveling with my EOS M5 (see Avatar). I have two "kit lenses" for it. Also I have a ridiculously heavy (aka boutique) 35mm F/0.95 (see Avatar again). For me, the point is, this lens needs to be used wide open or else what's the point of having it?

These two shots are differentiated by the Viewpoint (obviously); the Post Production is minimal in both, the first is almost "As Shot", and the second has been cooled using a digital version of an 82 Filter.

I like both, yet the warmer (some might argue incorrect colour balance) hacks at the engineering side of my brain, on occasions.

@William Michael to me, the warm tones signify elegance, comfort, tradition, and a more intimate set of interpretive expectations. The cooler I see as more modern, sleek, commercial, and transactional in expectation. Both work well, depending on the audience and purpose.

Think Moet & Chandon versus Kim Crawford in terms of marketing image.

@Jon Eckman I love these hospitality signs in places. Sometimes my capturing of them unsettles the natives and other patrons.
